Archaeological Site of Aquis Querquennis
This archaeological site is an ancient Roman camp built at the same time as the Via Nova and which was in operation from mid-first century to the early second century. This camp housed a cohort of Legio VII Gemina located in León and probably also a Turma of auxiliary cavalry. The camp has the typical walled structure with reinforcing towers surrounded by a moat. Access is through four gates that lead to the Cardo and Decumano, which make up the typical.
